First experience-sharing event on the River Pearls PLUS label
The first event aimed at sharing experience of the River Pearls PLUS quality label was held in Aarau on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. Representatives of sponsors, prospective applicants for the label and project staff from right across the country – a total of 26 people – met up at the Roggenhausenbach river pearl and shared their experience in Aarau’s town hall. It was a most useful occasion with some stimulating discussion.
In two panel discussions and two workshops, the representatives of the certified river pearls talked about their experience since the label was awarded. How did they organise themselves locally? Who is responsible for implementing the individual measures of the action plan? Who is in the core group? How is the financing secured? What are the challenges facing different municipality configurations? How can the label be used for communication purposes, and perhaps also commercially?
The evidence revealed that there are individual solutions to every question, which were implemented differently by each sponsoring organisation. It goes without saying that some of the issues raised still need to be resolved. The participants listened intently to the presentations of the case studies, asked a lot of questions and engaged in stimulating discussions with each other over refreshments. Everyone agreed that the exchange of experience was very useful and will probably not be the last such event.
