Presenting the nomination trophy to the Zulg
The Zulg River Pearl receives its nomination sculpture.
On Tuesday, 20 August 2024, the WWF and the River Pearls Association jointly presented the nomination trophy – made from a stone taken from the river – to representatives of the municipalities bordering the Zulg. Those in attendance included Daniel Kropf, mayor of Eriz, Stefan Reusser, mayor of Horrenbach-Buchen, Hans-Rudolf Bühler, mayor of Homberg, Bruno Ryser, Homberg municipal councillor, Michael Graf, mayor of Unterlangenegg, Michael Gerber, Oberlangenegg municipal councillor, Bernhard Zaugg, a member of the Fahrni building committee, and Christian Schaller, Teuffental municipal councillor.
The deeply imposing gorge formed by the wild and untamed power of the river formed a fitting backdrop for the little ceremony. With the presentation of the stone sculpture, the local communities are invited to protect the Zulg in the long term and commence the process of applying for certification with the River Pearl PLUS quality label.
